It's called Dakkijam... because it is!
We are a group of people, wanting to make maps for the fun of it. Primarily for multiplayer games, especially those from the 1990s. Not only we aim to provide playable maps from newcomers to the professionals, but this collaboration project aims to be a learning experience to some people new to level design. This series of project is lead by Akage "THEBaratusII" Megane, as a way to learn more about level design along the way.
It was originally set to be a collaboration project for Rise of the Triad: Ludicrous Edition and work on the project began in July 31st, 2023. Once was a small project of multiplayer COMM-BAT levels made by myself and a few friends soon evolved into a project in hopes to grow a community (Rise of the Triad Central was formed soon after) thus allowing other people to contribute their own levels.
Sadly, as time progressed and motivation started to run dry for various reasons, the project was set to be canceled. However after a change of thought, playtesting finally ensued and thus the project would be released as "Dakkijam: The Precursor" to ensure that the contributions didn't go to waste. The project was soon soft-rebooted soon after, focusing on a series of games and settings.
Dakkijam is named after "So Dakki", a villainess from Houshin Engi. It's a 1996 manga series written and illustrated by Ryu Fujisaki and was later adapted into an anime series on July 3, 1999 as 'Senkaiden Houshin Engi' which this version of Dakki is referenced from.
The reason behind why I chose this name comes from my liking towards the character. Most of my friend group are already aware about it so I decided why not choose this name. :P
Most of the development activity is done through Discord, so in order to contribute to Dakkijam projects, you must join our Discord community and get verified by the lead or a staff member.
